Did LeBron James try to lure Kevin Durant away from Warriors?

James had been clear that he wouldn't engage with the Cavaliers throughout the pre-draft and pre-free-agent process, and he has stayed consistent with that posture. With no dominoes yet to fall, the Lakers are left anxiously waiting for anything to occur before the free agency period kicks in.

Durant's Warriors have defeated James' Cavaliers in each of the past two NBA Finals.

It looks as if the mooted sequel to Space Jam is potentially edging forward later this year, with basketball star LeBron James still very much at the heart of the project. One All-Star player that unexpectedly popped up in the discussion today was Kevin Durant, who LeBron reportedly reached out to about teaming up on the Lakers.

Is LeBron James set for a move to the Los Angeles Lakers?

To this point, their reported focus has fallen on signing George and James, while also pursuing a trade for Leonard. However, the Lakers have their reason to believe that James is only going to Hollywood if they could successfully execute a trade with the San Antonio Spurs that would land them two-way superstar Kawhi Leonard.

"If you want to win, come to Indy", Oladipo told TMZ. "I don't know what Kevin Durant's response to him was, that is not the information that I got", Smith said.

Not because teams wouldn't be interested in signing the two-time NBA Finals MVP, but because of Durant's insistence that although he will become an unrestricted free agent, he's essentially a lock to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors.

If those are, indeed, Durant's thoughts, Twitter seems to agree with him.

ESPN reported the Cavs would love to find ways to add either Paul George or Chris Paul to entice James to stay, but such scenarios are hard due to their lack of salary cap space and trade assets.
