In the coming weeks, Google Pay is also looking to bolster its partnerships with big Indian offline retailers including the likes of Big Bazaar, e-Zone, and FBB.

With the new Google Pay app in India, certain customers of partner banks will be able to secure instant loans within the app itself, with the amount being disbursed in minutes.

Google launched payments app Tez, meaning fast in Hindi, in India a year ago integrating it with the state-backed unified payments interface (UPI) as it sought to gain a foothold in the South Asian nation's digital payments space which, according to Credit Suisse, will grow five-fold to $1 trillion by 2023.

Google will now also facilitate pre-approved loans to its customers in India.

Instead, the first step in the global expansion plans for Tez is a further consolidation of the search giant's once numerous mobile payment efforts.
