Fans are urging Emery to play the pair together for the Gunners.

The former Sevilla and PSG coach endured a hard start to his Arsenal tenure, losing back-to-back matches against Manchester City and Chelsea, but victories against West Ham and Cadriff helped build momentum before the global break.

Arsenal manager Emery said he enjoyed a "relaxing" three days with Ozil in training after the player's retirement from global football meant he did not depart with the Germany squad last week.

And speaking ahead of this weekend's Premier League clash with Newcastle, Emery opened up on where his relationship with Ozil now stands.

"I can say that I am very happy with him because he is 32 years old but I think physically, with his performances with us in matches, he is playing with a very good level". The 29-year-old retired from worldwide football over the summer.

The Gunners' first game after the global break is against Newcastle United, and Emery feels it's an opportunity for Ozil and many others to get a fresh start.

The way Arsenal play is very similar to when I was at Valencia and Liverpool - organised, pressing, passing the ball, ' said Benitez.

"For Mesut it is important, for me also, (to have) this focus every day with us".

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is determined to keep hold of left back Nacho Monreal amid interest to take him back to La Liga.

Gazidis made the decision for Emery to succeed Arsene Wenger, having overseen a restructure at the club by bringing in head of relations Raul Sanllehi from Barcelona and former Borussia Dortmund scout Sven Mislintat as head of recruitment.

"Mesut, I look at him with the focus totally here". "I don't know any other news from him".
