Supermodel Janice Dickinson, one of dozens of women to accuse Bill Cosby of sexual assault, has spoken out the day after the comic, once called "America's Dad", was sentenced to three to 10 years behind bars for another attack. The $400 million lockup opened two months ago and can hold 3,830 inmates.
"No one is above the law. If Bill Cosby raped and drugged any of you Women/ Men that I've been seeing on the Internet standing up for this RAPIST or your mamas you would be scared to say something too Because you would assume that no one would believe you".
The prison is brand new after opening in July and can house up to 3,830 inmates. He also feels that the highly publicized nature of Cosby's crimes and allegations will make him an easy target for other prisoners. O'Neill denied Cosby's request for bail pending his appeal, and Cosby was subsequently handcuffed and transported to prison to jail to begin his sentence immediately. In addition to this, Cosby has also been termed as a sexually violent predator.
It's not clear what Cosby and his lawyers were joking about, but the report says that he was laughing as sheriff's deputies approached him to take him into custody.
Women's advocates hailed Cosby's sentence as a landmark #MeToo moment.
During sentencing, prosecutors had asked the judge to give Cosby five to 10 years in prison, after saying that he lacks remorse and is capable of re-offending.
Sixty women have accused Cosby of sexual abuse.
"Bill Cosby seeing the inside of a prison cell sends a strong message that predators - no matter who they are, from Hollywood to Wall Street to the Supreme Court - can no longer be protected at the expense of victims", said Sonia Ossorio, president of the National Organization for Women of NY.
"Using his power and prestige within the community, he is able to meet people, befriend them, and it is during that friendship that the sexual assault occurs", she said.More news: Tiger Woods holds on to finally end title drought
