Donald Trump has Kanye West for lunch at the White House

What's bitterly ironic about West's praise for Trump is that the president has far more in common with Superman's arch-enemy Lex Luthor.

When asked about a possible presidential run: "Let's stop worrying about the future, all we really have is today". Brown, a civil rights leader, has met Trump previously. "He might not have thought he'd have a insane motherf-er like (me)".

The pre-lunch meeting was also attended by former US football player Jim Brown and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The number one thing he wanted to discuss with Trump, he said, is "stop and frisk" law enforcement practices that allow police to stop and search people on the street.

The President said during the White House meeting that he's "totally open" to an alternative to stop-and-frisk.

Wearing a Make America Great Again cap, despite receiving heavy criticism from his fellow celebrities for doing so, West swore, unlocked his phone apparently using the password 0000 and insisted he had been misdiagnosed as bipolar and was instead sleep deprived.

West and Trump, accompanied by a pack of reporters, sat down in the Oval Office on Thursday. Spectators at the show included Trump's son-in-law and top adviser, Jared Kushner, former National Football League star Jim Brown, the attorney for a gang leader serving time in federal prison, and a gaggle of reporters. West said, before giving him a huge hug.

It was unclear why West visited the store. He recently wore a "Free Hoover" sweatshirt in promotional material ahead of his controversial appearance on "Saturday Night Live". West called the president's work on criminal justice reform (an issue close to wife Kim Kardashian's heart) "bravery".

West's first visit to Mr Trump was at his eponymous Manhattan skyscraper in 2016, a month after he won the election, but this was the rapper's first trip to the White House.

Now White House press secretary Sarah Sanders has confirmed the get-together, and shared details about the meeting agenda.

So who knows what this meeting could bring? "This hat gives me power in a way", the rapper and entertainer said. And Kanye is a smart guy.

From there, West discussed prison reform and violence in inner-city Chicago. 'Ye also showed Trump his idea for the new Air Force One.

After West's speech ended, Trump was left momentarily and uncharacteristically speechless as advisers, including Kushner and Ivanka Trump, looked on.

In a almost 10-minute-long speech in the Oval Office, West said he was pressured not to wear his red "Make America Great Again" hat, and said he has felt pressure to be a Democrat because he is black.

During one pause, Trump seemed to acknowledge the oddness of the moment, saying, "That was quite something".
