The second-seeded Djokovic has won all four Shanghai finals he's contested in his career (2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018).
Although Roger Federer finally won a match in straight sets at this year's Shanghai Masters, it didn't save him any energy. However, the current price of [1.15] looks pretty short given this data - it's not a vast discrepancy in abilities - and even if we look at data from the last three months, where Djokovic has been magnificent, again, their ability differential is not huge.
"I did everything I meant to do on my end", Djokovic said. "I wouldn't be surprised, to be honest, with the way I feel here and the way I communicate and have relationship with the people. I basically didn't care, and that's why I played so good".
"I'm cherishing every moment of it", he told the crowd, calling Shanghai "a special place" to him. "I didn't enjoy it as much, to be honest", Coric said. So this was definitely one of the best service weeks that I had in my career.
Coric, 21, said that he had no complaints about losing to "one of the best in the history of tennis".
"So I'm going to try to learn something". With a clever mix of groundstrokes, the 31-year-old Serb broke Coric's serve in the sixth game and made a series of forays to the net as he consolidated his lead.More news: Should Red Sox be anxious Angel Hernandez is umpiring Game 4?
"It was really tough", Coric said. I just didn't know what to do exactly.
"I saw Kei was playing extremely aggressive, especially towards the end of the second set", said the Swiss world number two, who has been content with his form this week despite being pushed to three sets in his other two matches.
"I'm just happy with the whole week".
Djokovic, who had elbow surgery in February but recovered to win Wimbledon and then the US Open last month, said: "Being number two after this tournament is also a great achievement, considering the first four, five months of the year and considering I had the surgery".
From the beginning of their match, Federer's shot-making was below-par as he missed often on straightforward points or after long rallies, in which Coric was superb.
He is on a 17-match winning streak and is 26-1 in matches played since the start of Wimbledon.
