Powerball Jackpot Reaches $345 million

Kansas Lottery players, like players everywhere, are talking about Mega Millions and making sure they have their tickets for the next drawing. There hasn't been a Mega Millions victor since 11 California co-workers split a $543 million stake in July.

The increase from $654 million reflects a surge in ticket sales.

The odds of matching all six numbers and becoming instantly wealthy are incredibly small- one in 302.5 million. Powerball's jackpot also represents: There is a top prize of at least $345 million on Wednesday.

Wednesday's Powerball jackpot stands at $345 million. One ticket, sold in Arkansas, matched the five white balls Friday night to win the game's second prize that, because of a multiplier, cashed in for $3 million.

The next drawing will be October 17 with the prize of $345 million.

Did someone say $1 billion in jackpots?

Since there was no overall victor in Saturday's Powerball drawing, the jackpot has risen to $345 million. Mega Millions is on at 11 p.m., and Powerball is 10:59 p.m. The big jackpots could mean lines at some ticket locations as the drawings near.

Before claiming the prize, the lucky victor must first sign the back of the ticket to prove ownership.
