MORE DETAILS: Broncos' Chad Kelly arrested on trespassing charges

Denver Broncos backup quarterback Chad Kelly - the nephew of former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly - was arrested early Tuesday on a first-degree criminal trespass charge in Colorado, police said. She told police he sat down next to her and was "mumbling incoherently".

Cops say a male inside the house hit Kelly in the upper back with a 2-3 foot stick shaped piece from a vacuum. and was able to chase him outside.

The male homeowner told police the doors were locked, but officers found no evidence of forced entry.

The sheriff's office says because this was not an alcohol-related offense, no information on Kelly's blood-alcohol content would have been in the arrest affidavit.

The man was identified as Kelly. All options - including release - on the table for Kelly.

Retired Broncos quarterback and current general manager John Elway addressed the incident with Denver's 760 AM: 'We're obviously very, very disappointed in Chad and the situation that he's put himself into'.

The Broncos drafted Kelly in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he beat out Paxton Lynch during the preseason for the backup role behind Case Keenum.

This is not the first time Kelly has been in trouble.

The Broncos drafted Kelly with the last pick of the 2017 draft, but he missed his entire rookie season due to injury.

Yikes. Kelly didn't look THAT wonked out in his mugshot, although perhaps he's smiling because he's not entirely aware of the full circumstances of what happened? Prior to arriving on campus, Kelly was arrested for allegedly telling a bouncer, "I'm going to go to my vehicle and get my AK-47 and spray this place".

The Englewood Police Dept. says officers were called to the home at 1:17 AM in reference to a man standing outside the residence.

Although he didn't play in the Senior Bowl after his final season at Ole Miss because of a right knee injury, he was in attendance all week in Mobile, Alabama, so he could talk with National Football League teams about his off-field troubles.
