News of Online's launch comes in the wake of players having spotted several achievements for the mode being unlocked overnight, and given how most who've played Red Dead Redemption 2 have now finished the story, it's probably fair to say that Rockstar have timed its release pretty well.

Red Dead Online-which I'm sure we will all be calling RDO soon enough-is "built from the ground up for the latest hardware" and "blends the classic multiplayer of the original Red Dead Redemption with the best of everything we have learned since then about creating deep multiplayer experiences", Rockstar said.

As confirmed by Rockstar Games [via Variety], Red Dead 2's dedicated multiplayer mode rolls out on Tuesday 27 November - but initially only for those who purchased the Ultimate Edition.

This staggered beta release is likely Rockstar's way of reducing server load on launch; which may give its engineers time to catch with the massive amount of players Red Dead Online will undoubtedly draw in.

If you want to play solo, that's absolutely fine. Players will be able to participate in fishing, hunting, treasure hunting posses, and camps.

What can players do in Red Dead Online aside from bashing each other's heads in? According to the promotional video below, "Playing great games makes you hungry".
