‘Zero’ box office collection: Shah Rukh Khan movie struggles despite festive release

It looks like the dark clouds that have stormed upon Shah Rukh Khan and his recently released film Zero are not going to pass anytime soon. The film reportedly opened on more than 4,000 screens in India and 1,500 screens overseas. The film has not witnessed progress in its Day 3 earnings and managed to rake in Rs 20.71 crore. On the second day, the collection of the SRK starrer dipped, thanks to negative reviews.

Trade website Box Office India said the unimpressive opening wasn't a surprise considering the film isn't big on massy genres like action or comedy. Shah Rukh is caught in a love triangle with Aafia (played by Anushka Sharma), who is a NASA scientist with cerebral palsy and Babita Kumari (played by Katrina Kaif), who is a glamorous Bollywood actress struggling with alcoholism issues. "Loved Anushka Sharma's performance because I felt it was a very challenging role and she was outstanding".

The film is expected to gain momentum over the weekend and is all set to enjoy the Christmas holiday.

"Zero" presents the story of Bauua, a vertically challenged man essayed by Shah Rukh Khan. With Shetty's Simmba breathing down heavily on Zero by virtue of it's release next week, and will need to add a few zeroes to its box office quickly. The Aanand L Rai directorial has released on 21st December 2018.
