Next generation AirPods will come with improved "Hey, Siri" feature

Now dubbed as the "AirPods 2", it looks like Apple's truly wireless headphones will add support for "Hey Siri" command. Also, it's unclear whether Apple is waiting for AirPower to be ready before bringing AirPods 2 to market.

In a report published Wednesday by Digitimes, Apple is alleged to be releasing AirPods 2 during the first half of this year.

Since late 2016 when Apple released the first generation of wireless earbuds, the AirPods have continued to accrue positive reviews.

Finally, there's also been rumours that Apple will add some kind of health-tracking ability to the new devices. There has been speculation that the new AirPods model will feature longer battery life, a noise-cancellation system, and some level of protection from water.

This hey Siri feature will allow you to use your new AirPods with your iPhone to talk to Siri, this will work in the same way that Hey Siri works on the iPhone.

Another rumor we previously heard from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is that this year's AirPods will come in a redesigned case that can be wirelessly charged.

Now, it seems the AirPods 2 themselves will perform the speech recognition, making them a much more powerful prospect than previously.

As of yet, no concrete details have been provided or no new information has been given regarding what health features in the new AirPods will entail.

The setup is not visible to public beta testers. That's already ancient in tech years, where products usually get upgraded every year. Not being able to do so on the current version of the headphones, it is highly likely that Apple is preparing to launch the new version.
