Adam Levine and Maroon 5 break silence after Super Bowl show

Atlanta native Big Boi then entered in a convertible, rocking a fur coat to perform "The Way You Move" with Levine singing the hook with Sleepy Brown.

Maroon 5 was Super Bowl 53's halftime performers, along with Big Boi and Travis Scott, and the internet had some thoughts.

And as many on social media were keen to point out, Levine's on-stage strip show comes 15 years after pop icon Janet Jackson suffered an vast career backlash when one of her breasts was briefly partially exposed at the end of her 2004 Super Bowl halftime performance. Nevertheless, it was certainly a momentous occasion for Scott who accepted the opportunity after catching criticism for his decision to appear in light of the NFL's treatment of Colin Kaepernick.

When Maroon 5 was announced as this year's act, the reaction was tepid - and unfortunately for Adam Levine and co., the internet, an ever cruel and harsh critic, was far from won over by their performance.

He'd exit the stage just after leading the crowd into a classic "ATL Hoe" chant.

Taking to Twitter to discuss the moment, one person described his performance as "very poor", before adding: "The fact he had to strip to distract fans from the poor showing speaks volumes".

One user even went as far as to hold a poll of sorts, asking the viewers to retweet in support of Spongebob and like for Maroon 5, and the animated sponge won! So what did I think about Marron 5's performance?

Their wish did come true when the cartoon character opened for Travis Scott!

According to the Recording Academy, which runs the Grammys, Maroon 5 donated its performance fee to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
