Raptors nearing deal for Marc Gasol

The Raptors entered Thursday as +220 East favourites at Sports Interaction, and they just got better.

According to Wojnarowski, Toronto is planning to send Jonas Valanciunas, Delon Wright, CJ Milles and a 2024 second-round pick to the Grizzlies in exchange for Gasol.

Gasol has been with the Grizzlies for 11 seasons, which was tied with Russell Westbrook for the fourth-longest tenure with one franchise among active players.

The Charlotte Hornets also held discussions with the Grizzlies on Gasol.

The addition of Gasol should help them keep pace with the Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers, who were both busy on Thursday's (Friday, PHL time) National Basketball Association trade deadline. If Gasol does not opt out, the big man will make $25.5 million next season, per Spotrac.

Toronto Raptors center Jonas Valanciunas was looking to come back from a thumb injury that required surgery as early as tonight against the Atlanta Hawks.

Three of those Eastern Conference contenders made big deals this week, with Philly acquiring Tobias Harris, Toronto acquiring Marc Gasol and Milwaukee acquiring Nikola Mirotic. He has thrived for years in Memphis playing with Mike Conley, who is a star point guard in his own right. "I've been in rumours so many times I don't even look at it", joked Valanciunas according to TSN. He has tallied 20.4 points and 6.4 assists per game while knocking down 36.5 percent of his 3-point attempts in 2018-19.

However, due to Lowry's dip in performance this past year, most notably when his free-throw rate dropped several points, it was Valančiūnas who became a better trade for the Grizzlies. "I just know one thing, we have a good team, we have a good future in front of us".

Miles, who turns 32 in March, is averaging 10 points per game off the bench for Toronto.
