In essence, Sunday night's performance was the MusiCares banquet in miniature with many artists reprising their performances from that night, most notably Musgraves and Perry on a duet of "Here You Come Again" in outfits that were vintage Dolly.

To gasps and laughs, Parton then described her feelings at seeing the likes of Willie Nelson, Katy Perry, Mavis Staples and Garth Brooks perform her songs at Friday's gala.

Parton is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, actress, author, businesswoman, and philanthropist - and she's known primarily for her work and contributions to country music.

"I'm blowing my punchline of my speech tonight, but I'm saying she teaches people not to judge a book by its cover, or its huge boobs and its big hair", Cyrus joked. The Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, founded in 1995, has mailed more than 100 million books to children in the United States and other countries. Watch clips from the performance below. Two of her songs, "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You", have both been inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

Cyrus, who is Parton's goddaughter, and Mendes dueted on "Islands in the Stream" with Mark Ronson on guitar.

And when she had the stage - she completely rocked it, belting out, among other songs, her theme song from "9 to 5". "She likes fairy godmother much better", Cyrus told ET Online at the event."[She deserves this honor], No. 1, [because of] her kindness". MusiCares, run by the Recording Academy, provides financial assistance to individuals in the music industry during times of financial, medical and personal need.
