Winter weather forecasted to strike again Tuesday

In Seattle, snowfall from Sunday and Monday lingered into the week as below-freezing temperatures gripped the area.

Residents of the Northwest are dealing with a heavy snowfall, and meteorologists say more is likely on the way.

Snow emergencies have already been declared for some Metro cities.

Stock up on groceries: The Seattle area could get 5 to 8 inches of snow starting Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service's forecast.

At 10 p.m., we've got a High Wind Warning for areas up north. Gusts between 50-60 miles per hour can make it dangerously cold and lead to blowing snow.

Some cities within the region are expected to see as much as three feet of total accumulation through Tuesday, before multiple winter systems pass over the area.

Maya will head to the Plains and Midwest Monday, where heavy snow is expected to accumulate across the northern Plains and upper Midwest.

"Rush hour during the morning Tuesday as well as later that night will be very hard and slow due to another heavy snowfall", Yuhas said.

Seattle police tweeted that additional resources have been dedicated to getting the homeless community into warm shelters.

But more snow was possible for the region by midweek, the report said.
