Captain Marvel logged the seventh-best opening of the 21 Marvel Cinematic Universe films, spurring what has been a lackluster box-office year so far.

That means the Brie Larson-fronted movie, which has been dazzling critics left and right, has earned the distinction of being the sixth-biggest opening of all time, pushing out another Disney film, Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi, which previously occupied the sixth spot with $450.8 million for its opening weekend sales.

The Marvel Studios origin movie raked in a whopping $153 million at the domestic box office, making it the best-performing opening weekend of the year.

At least a dozen vfx companies worked on the Disney/Marvel picture: Industrial Light & Magic, Trixter, Framestore, Animal Logic, Lola Visual Effects, Scanline VFX, Rising Sun Pictures, Luma Pictures, Digital Domain, Rise, Cantina, and SSVFX. You look at 'Wonder Woman' and "Captain Marvel, ' they are good films put together by strong creative teams". It opened up at No. 1 in the box office and brought in about $150 million for its opening weekend. Brie Larson also filmed her role in Avengers: Endgame before her solo film, and she is seen in a new costume during the mid-credits scene as well. It was also the second most successful for any superhero pic behind Avengers: Infinity War ($640.5 million), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
