On Tuesday night Cristiano Ronaldo did what Cristiano Ronaldo does best, score goals in the Champions League.

Juventus not only have to win the second leg against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday (4 p.m. ET on TNT), but they'll need to do so by at least two goals to advance to the quarterfinals.

Manchester City cruised into the Champions League quarter-finals as Sergio Aguero's brace sparked a 7-0 home thumping of Schalke and a crushing 10-2 aggregate victory.

Juventus went all out attack and got the decisive third goal four minutes from time.

Kean was the star performer for Juventus as he scored 2 goals.

However, just as he's done on so many occasions in the past, it was Ronaldo who had the last word - scoring thrice at the Allianz Stadium to maintain his own personal record of qualifying for the quarter-finals for the last nine seasons uninterrupted. With five clean sheets in their last five matches few gave the Italians much hope of overturning a two-goal deficit from the opener in Madrid.

"He will have seen how I did it at the Wanda Metropolitano and, like me, was trying to show his character", said Simeone, who was fined 20,000 euros ($22,000) by UEFA for his gesture.

Defensive specialists Atletico held off the Juventus pressure until the 27th minute, when Ronaldo met a pin-point Bernardeschi cross to head home the opener. Bernardeschi also had several chances to extend Juve's lead - notably with an audacious overhead kick in the 35th minute which flew narrowly over. But the Portuguese man's goals meant that Juventus completed the turnaround needed for them to go through instead.

Ronaldo has scored eight Champions League hat-tricks, the joint-most in the competition alongside Messi.

Ronaldo's second was another header that squeezed over the line despite a sprawling attempt to claw the ball away by Oblak.

He has nearly played as many league minutes this season (2,239) - with 11 games remaining - as he did in 2017-18 for Real (2.297).

The tie appeared to be drifting towards extra time, but Atletico substitute Angel Correa pushed Bernadeschi inside the area with just six minutes remaining.
