Six legends to be inducted into Naismith Hall of Fame

The school now known as Tennessee State was coached by John McLendon, the Kansas graduate who is enshrined in the Hall of Fame as a coach and contributor, and led by future National Basketball Association players Dick Barnett and John "Rabbit" Barnhill.

- Paul Westphal: Westphal, 68, was a five-time All-Star guard who helped the Celtics to the 1974 NBA championship and led the Suns to the NBA Finals two years later. Fitch was two-time NBA Coach of the Year and spent 25 years on the sideline in the NBA. Four years after his final game as a player, he led Golden State to the 1975 title.

Also included in the class of 2019 is Jack Sikma.

This year's class includes ... eight-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member Bobby Jones.

Fitch sits in the top ten in career wins (944) among NBA head coaches and he is a two-time NBA Coach of the Year. Al Attles was directly elected from the Contributor Committee, Charles "Chuck" Cooper from the Early African American Pioneers Committee, Vlade Divac from the International Committee, Carl Braun from the Veterans Committee and the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens of 1948-1982 from the newly instated Women's Veterans Committee.

Jones will not be the only former Philadelphia NBA player getting inducted in Springfield. Fitch also captained the Boston Celtics to a championship in 1981 and he retired as the longest tenured coach in league history, appearing on the bench for more than 2,000 games.

Weatherspoon, who was elected by the women's committee, was a five-time WNBA All-Star for the New York Liberty who was the first in the league to reach 1,000 points and 1,000 assists. He was a five-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA first team three times. He played eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, two with the Charlotte Hornets and six with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 11.8 points and 8.2 rebounds.

Westphal went on to coach the Suns, the Seattle SuperSonics and the Sacramento Kings, compiling a 318-279 regular-season mark and a 27-22 postseason record. Attles was voted into the Hall of Fame as a contributor. In 695 games with Milwaukee, Moncrief averaged 15.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest. He played for the Philadelphia Warriors from 1960-71 and later was a coach, executive and ambassador for the organization. He was a five-time NBA All-Star who won a title with the Boston Celtics in 1962. Jones won a championship with the 76ers in 1983.
