Duke Basketball: Kyrie Irving, Celtics get bounced from playoffs

Boston became the first team in National Basketball Association history to win its first five playoff games but then lose its next four. But that probably doesn't matter if Durant tells the Knicks that he'll sign with them, and that he wants to play with Irving.

Visit Milwaukee's Lindsey McKee says, those numbers are figured out by looking at another Milwaukee team with recent playoff experience: the Brewers.

The Celtics will try to become just the 12th team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit in a best-of-seven set and the first since the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals.

The Boston Celtics had much better success in the postseason previous year when Kyrie Irving sat out with an injury, but at least one of the star point guard's teammates thinks the idea of the team being worse off with Irving is complete nonsense.

With the Boston Celtics eliminated from the playoffs, all eyes have shifted to a critical offseason decision Kyrie Irving will soon make.

But I'm here to tell you that this embarrassment of a season and this thorough no-show against Milwaukee can not possibly be laid solely-or perhaps even primarily-at the feet of Kyrie Irving. Kyrie Irving wanted to prove he was the man, so he wanted to shoot more.

"That's probably the part that eats at me the most", said Stevens of not being able to get the determination out of this group.

"I think I was on the bench, Khris [Middleton] was on the bench, [Eric] Bledsoe was on the bench". "Coach was in a tough position, one of the toughest positions, dealing with all these guys with attitudes, all that sh-".

Well, this is only going to infuriate Kyrie Irving. A lot of media members were interested to see if he could handle a star, but I don't know any coach who could have handled Kyrie Irving this season. What, you meant me? "We always say in the game, 'No let up, no let up.' We really feel we have no drop-off, regardless of who we have on the floor".

This team, apart from a few stretches in the middle of the season, was utterly unwilling to put in the work required to justify their reputation.
