Kevin Durant has mild calf strain as Warriors, Knicks mostly exhale

Game 7, if necessary, would be played Sunday in Oakland.

Golden State is a minus-260 favorite to advance past Houston, which is the exact same series price prior to winning Game 5 and losing Durant. "I was assured it's a calf strain, not the Achilles'". "But he's not playing Game 6". On Wednesday night, the Warriors got a dose of what losing a star player means before they managed to hold off the Rockets and secure a 104-99 win.

Coach Steve Kerr made the announcement and said others are going to have to pick up the slack.

According to Warriors PR team, Durant will not travel with the team to Houston for Game 6 so that he can continue to receive treatment in The Bay. "Big one for us on Friday", Harden said after the loss.

"I think it's good news", Kerr said.

The Durant-less Warriors will try to close out the Rockets on Friday night in Game 6.

"Tough one, but we are capable of being better". He then walked gingerly to the Warriors bench before heading straight to the locker room.

That could end up being a huge blow for a Golden State team that has yet to win a game in Houston this series.

The Warriors scored just 15 third-quarter points, but survived the initial shock of Durant's injury to outscore the Rockets 32-27 in the fourth quarter to take a 3-2 series lead.

After they had won, celebrated a little and then wearily walked back into the locker room, the Warriors saw Durant and heard the relatively good news - it wasn't an Achilles tear, but he was out indefinitely and nearly certainly out for the next few games.

Kerr talked with the injured Durant, who has been on an incredible roll in the post-season, after the Game 5.

"We started the game well, but then they got up on us 20 points".
